I had the original Magic Jacks several years ago and they worked great. I hope you can hear the excitement in my text here, because I seldom write reviews for products. I'm very much a skeptic when it comes to products and sales spiels with "Too Good To Be True" jibber jabber, but If you have high speed internet, MagicJack is a no brainer. If you want 911 availability, that will cost you another $6.50 per year, raising your yearly bill to approximately $41.50. After the first year, all i pay is $35.00 per year.

I purchased the MagicJack for $59.99, which included one year free service. We have multiple phones upstairs and downstairs plugged into our original telephone wired wall outlets. Then I went to the telephone box outside and disconnected the big mega phone company's lines that came to the house from the telephone pole. Long story short, I went and bought a MagicJack, got back home and hooked it up in 5 minutes, went to the MagicJack website and configured the settings, along with porting my existing telephone number. I remembered seeing an email from Best Buy about a product called MagicJack. I had been doing calculations in my sleep about how much money i had wasted over the years. A couple of weeks ago, I woke up from a nightmare in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. What took me so long? Good grief, for years I've been spending over $70.00 every month ($840.00 a year) with our area's mega landline telephone provider. and a photo of my base station phone hooked up to the magic jack with the cable that came with the Magic Jack. A 1 foot internet cable connects the modem/router to the magic jack. The photos shows Magic Jack powered by the transformer plugged into a an ac extension cord and connected to the Magic Jack through a USB connection. The price of the two models are about the same when you factor in the extra 6 months service with the "GO" model, and the "GO" model looks to be a newer design. I have none of this problems with Magic Jack Go. I also had problems not always hearing the caller and I had to instruct them to call back sometimes 3 or 4 time in order to hear them.

My internet speed is 50 Ms download and 5 Ms upload. Magic Jack connects directly to your modem/router with a short cable. The USB connection to the computer is just to set up magic jack and when it's working use the power transformer that came with Magic Jack to power it.The computer does not have to be on for Magic Jack to work after it's set up and working. I have five cordless Panasonic 6.0 cordless phones working off my answering machine base station. The brass bells take to much power to ring well and magic jack has very little power output. Old phones with mechanical brass bells do not work well if at all with magic jack. Only if the Magic Jack does not use the home phone house wiring, it's to long and magic jack works best with a short phone cable connected from the magic jack to a electronic cordless phone that has it's own power to ring the phone. The MagicJack Go works as good as my old Verizon fios land line phone. My friend also bought one and is using it for his home phone saving loads of money each year! It's a terrific product, just be aware of the 911 fee going in and you won't be disappointed. Would I buy again? Yes, I would and I did buy another one for the accounting section of the office. I also will be saving $324 a year when I renew my number next year. It was easy to setup, inexpensive, and works for my needs. Overall I am highly satisfied with the device. If you don't have one, snag one while you're in the store. Phone cables are generally included with phones and all-in-one printers so be sure you didn't throw yours away and have one on hand. Please be sure to understand that a phone cable is not included with Magic Jack, but an Ethernet cable and charger cable is. Lower the resolution and it should go through (Super fine or fine). Be aware that faxing isn't the intended purpose of this device so sometimes a high resolution (Photo) fax will fail/time out. I sent and received test faxes without issue to the fax-to-email system I have at the home office without issue. Then I plugged in the magic jack into an Ethernet port, plugged in the power, and the phone port in the back of my 4-in-1 printer. I was able to pick my own free number and finished the tutorial on screen. There is a 911 fee that Magic Jack no longer pays for so be aware of that before you purchase the product. I just plugged it in and went through the guided tutorial on the screen. I setup the device through the computer easily. Also love the fact that Bestbuy Price Matches so I got this thing for a steal! I have this setup for a dedicated Fax Machine because the Government does not allow transmission of sensitive information via fax-to-email or email.
